If you can dream it, you can build it!

It’s time to break out the laser cutter and get those creative juices flowing. The Science Garage’s Teen Makerspace Program is a FREE program that gives high school students the power to create the projects of their dreams!

Students with successful applications will embark on an incredible two-month journey, where they will combine their love of science and art to create 4 unique STEAM projects. Collaborating with resident experts, students will have the opportunity to use their imagination, reclaimed materials and the following tools to make their projects a reality:

• Watch your creations come to life using our 3D printer

• Make precision cuts and engravings for your project with our laser cutter

• Incorporate circuits into your projects with electronics

The program will culminate in a showcase event where students will present their projects to TELUS World of Science - Edmonton guests in December 2017.

Program Start Date

Friday, October 13, 2017

Program Goals

• TELUS World of Science – Edmonton Staff will mentor students in the design and creation of projects using 3D printing, laser cutter technology, electronics, and reclaimed materials

• Students will gain insight into how arts and science come together in creative enterprises and in the careers that blend the two fields

• Students and TELUS World of Science – Edmonton Staff will work together to develop new maker projects for The Science Garage to share with science centre visitors

Honorarium

Upon completion of 4 maker projects that meet acceptance criteria, attendance and participation in the project showcase, students will receive a $250 honorarium as a reward for creating 4 viable projects that The Science Garage can use in programs with future guests.
