Put your deepest fight or flight instincts to the ultimate test during TWOSE's Science of Survival (S.O.S) weekend.

Saturday, June 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. &
Sunday, June 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Embark on an epic day-long journey of survival, as you complete a variety of tasks, challenges and activities with family and friends. Complete one of three scenarios in order to acces the Refueling Station and receive your reward: Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream with a 'protein' topper (a.k.a. bugs!).

Survive the elements: see Extreme Weather in IMAX!

Weather is one of the most dynamic forces shaping our planet, but now it's more extreme and complex than ever. This new IMAX film puts audiences in the eye of the storm, on the frontlines of Extreme Weather where few have ever gone...

Lightning Storms, Wild Fires & Tornadoes!

Fire and lightning will strike the Science Stage every 45-minutes, as we perform some of the most electrifying and explosive science demonstrations you've ever seen! We'll even ride our own soundwaves as we sing to stay alive.

Stare Danger in the Face: from Extreme Weather to Extreme Critters

Put yourself at arms-length to some of Mother Nature's most destructive forces inside the Environment Gallery. Using TWOSE’s iconic 6-foot diameter projection system, staff scientists will take you on a journey across the globe through tropical storms, landslides, floods and drought.

Showtimes:

  • 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
  • 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Next, meet Itsy and Shalob - TWOSE's very own tarantulas, if you dare!

Critter visits:

  • 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Wild hide n' Seek - Can you spot 'em?

This special Exploration Station can be found inside the Environment Gallery. You'll explore natural selection and discover how some animals protect themselves from predators by adopting camouflage to blend in to their surroundings.

Exploration Station:

  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Rule 1 of Survival: Stay Healthy

The Body Fantastic gallery is on quarantine lock-down all day while you (with your help of TWOSE scientists) track a disease outbreak and trace the source of a mysterious new disease.

Exploration Station:

  • 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

What's bugging you?

Find this Exploration Station inside the Body Fantastic gallery, where we need your help to identify different shapes of bacteria using balloons! Some are good, some are bad... but which? 

Exploration Station:

Stranded on an Island

Oh no! You’ve been stranded on a deserted island and are faced with two choices: perish or fight for your survival! Join us inside The Science Garage where you will be given a random supply of materials and the challenge of your life: to build something to help you survive life on the island. 

Natural Disaster Challenge

Disaster is about to strike, but which kind? Spin the Big Wheel insde The Science Garage and find out if you will need to survive a windstorm, flood or even an earthquake! Each disaster will have it’s own building challenge that will test your engineering skills!

Crash Lunar Landing

Imagine a time in the future where you live and work on the moon. During a routine journey to a lunar base, your ship crash lands on the Moon's surface. What would you need in order to survive? Join us inside the Space Place gallery as we solve this life or death dilemma!

Survival on Other Planets

It is light-years into the future and humankind is living on other planets. What kind of adaptations did humans and animals need to make in order to thrive on other planets? Do we look differently? Behave differently? Let's find out together inside the Space Place Gallery. 

Exploration Station:

  • 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Robot Take-Over

A lot has happened up to this point and now it's just you and your robot left. Participate in 45-minute drop-in challenges, inside the Robotics Lab. You and your 'bot must complete a variety of tasks and challenges, and if you fail? Destruction ensues.

Check out this mobile moving maker space packed with exciting, cutting-edge technology! You'll want to spend all day experimenting and building.

Let's get busy! Explore hands-on, tabletop activities and meet the scientists who created them! 

Egg-stronaut Rescue Mission!** 

The fate of your 'Egg-stronaut' is in your hands! Put your creative engineering skills to the test, as you craft a vehicle capable of delivering your Egg-stronaut safely to the ground. Builds and launches take place all day in Kinetic Hall. 

Giant Games**

Test your skills at our upsized versions of Mastermind, Hamsterrolle, and Battleship. Winner takes all!
