Booking Information FAQ

Find answers to your frequently asked questions about booking a School Program.

1. Are students, teachers and chaperones required to show proof of vaccination to visit the science centre?

To ensure everyone’s safety while visiting the science centre, TELUS World of Science - Edmonton is taking part in the Alberta Restrictions Exemption program. This means all eligible teachers, chaperones, and students grade 7 or older and over are required to show proof of vaccination or the results of a rapid test (within 72 hours), for entrance into the science centre.

Please ensure that students (those eligible in grade 7 and older), teachers and chaperones attend with their vaccination proof or test results. There will be no exceptions for those who are not able to present vaccination proof. Teachers and chaperones (aged 18 and over) must also bring government photo ID.

Masks continue to be mandatory for all guests ages 3 and over visiting the science centre.

2. What are your COVID-19 protocols to keep visitors safe?

  • All eligible teachers, chaperones, and students grade 7 or older and over are required to show proof of vaccination or the results of a rapid test (within 72 hours), for entrance into the science centre.
  • Masks are required for all visitors aged three (3) and up while in the building. Please bring cloth or disposable medical masks with you.
  • Extra cleaning protocols are in place in our building, including in the Learning Centres.
  • Classes who stay for lunch will be assigned a lunch space. These spaces will be cleaned between classes.
  • Physical distancing measures are in place in our theatres and across all areas of the science centre.
  • We continue to stay abreast of the situation with COVID-19 and will make adjustments to our protocols when necessary.

3. Do you offer virtual programs?

Yes, we offer standalone virtual programs, taught by our skilled educators remotely to your class. In our Program Guide, look for any program that is labelled “Virtual Only”.

4. Do you offer in-person programs?

Yes, we will offer in-person and hybrid programs starting in January 2022, subject to any AHS guidelines and COVID-19 restrictions. In our Program Guide, these programs are labelled as "IN-PERSON ONLY and "IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL".

5. What is a hybrid program?

Some of our programs have two sessions: one (1) virtual and one (1) in-person. The virtual component kick starts your students’ learning in the classroom, along with extension activities that will prime them for their field trip to the Science Centre where they will experience hands-on exploration in person! In our Program Guide, these programs are labelled as "IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL".

6. How far in advance do I need to book a School Program?

School Programs (virtual or in-person) need to be booked four (4) weeks in advance.

7. How much do your school programs cost?

Please see our Program Fees for more information.

8. What is your cancellation policy?

Bookings can be cancelled, rebooked, or transferred to a new date if you give us more than three (3) weeks’ notice, minus a $10 admin fee for each program or show on your booking. If you cancel with less than three (3) weeks’ notice, a refund will not be issued. A secured booking is only cancelled with the teacher’s written request by email to bookings@twose.ca.

If a school must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e., COVID-19 outbreak, school closure):

  • Bookings can be rescheduled to a future date during the school year.
  • If the booking is not rescheduled, the booking will be refunded in full, less the $10.00 administration fee.

Please refer to our Booking Policies for more information.

9. When do I have to pay?

For in-person field trips:

  • A 50% deposit is required within five (5) business days of receiving your booking confirmation. You will be required to confirm the number of students attending at least one (1) week before your field trip date. Your final invoice will be sent out five (5) business days before the field trip date, based on the number of confirmed students. Final payment is due within seven (7) days of that invoice.

For virtual programs:

  • Your payment is due in full within five (5) days of receiving your booking confirmation.

10. When do I need to confirm my final numbers?

For in-person field trips:

  • Final student numbers must be confirmed one (1) week (five (5) business days) prior to the field trip date.

For virtual programs:

  • Numbers will be confirmed when you book.

11. What is the maximum number of students per program (in-person vs. virtual, etc.)?

In-Person Programs

  • Maximum is 30 students per program.
  • The minimum in-person class fee includes the cost of the first 20 students, though you can bring less than 20.

Virtual Programs

  • Maximum is 30 students per class; however, more than one (1) class can book into a virtual program simultaneously. See Program Fees for more information.

12. How many chaperones can we bring for our in-person field trip?

For students K-6, our recommended chaperone ratio is 1:5. For Grade 7-12, our recommended chaperone ratio is 1:10. Any chaperones over and above the recommended ratio will be charged general admission and show admission at student rates.

13. Do you have storage for coats and backpacks?

We have storage for coats and some limited storage for bagged lunches, but not backpacks. Please do not bring backpacks or excess winter gear.

Yes, time in CuriousCITY needs to be booked. It is an option for Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes (ages 6 and under) in our booking request form. There is no additional cost for CuriousCITY.

16. Will my class be the only class in the virtual program?

You can choose to add another class from the same school to a virtual program for a discounted rate. The programs will be booked together and both teachers must agree to be in the same program. Your class will not be combined with other classes without your knowledge and approval.
