Professional Development Program on Air Quality for Science Teachers

This brand new PD Session is available for teachers and schools located at least 100 kilometres outside of Edmonton.

Available until November 23, 2020

TELUS World of Science is excited to offer a new Invisible Waste: Air Quality PD Session. This session introduces educators to the brand new PocketLab Air sensor.

This 2.5 hour session will introduce teachers to the science of air quality and offer ways of bringing this important topic into your classroom through hands-on activities and inquiry-based experimentation. Learn about common air pollutants, their impact on our health and the environment, how we can measure and monitor air pollution, and where to find reliable air quality data for Alberta.

Workshop participants will receive several free resources including a series of air quality lesson plans, a PocketLab Air sensor (up to $300 value), materials lists for all activities, teacher’s resources, and much more! Learn how these resources can be applied in your classroom in support of the Alberta Science Curriculum for Grades 4, 7, 9, and Science 30.

Combine this professional development session with any two SIM programs for your students at 50% of the cost of a full programming day. There is no charge for the Invisible Waste session.

This professional development session is offered alongside downloadable, ready-to-go lesson plans for Grades 4, 7, 9, and Science 30:
