Despite the harsh conditions, Antarctica in IMAX captures the weird and wonderful creatures that thrive in abundance in the coldest, driest, and windiest place on Earth. Experience the award-winning film narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch with this fully immersive IMAX 3D experience on Alberta's Largest Screen.

While the Earth's two polar regions are both cold, they are quite different! Can you figure out which critters call Antarctica home, and who lives in the Arctic?


Ice Smash

Which is stronger: sea-ice, glacial ice... or you? Smash some ice and learn about the different properties unique to different types of frozen H20.


Be a Whale Scientist
9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Out of the Depths: The Blue Whale Story Exhibition
Every summer, the Antarctic waters are incredibly rich in food that draws a crowd of marine animals including blue whales! Climb aboard a research vessel and become a whale scientist as you discover their various methods of study.

Tracks in the Snow

Who goes there? Keep an eye out for animal tracks in the snow as you identify which Antarctica animals they belong to.


Antarctic Ice Cream
1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on the Science Stage
Explorers who led the first research trips to Antarctica were confronted with many problems on the coldest, windiest, driest, and tallest continent. One of them was scurvy! Eat some delicious scurvy preventing ice cream as you take in our famous liquid nitrogen ice cream show!


Snowflake Chromatography
