Panelists


Dr. Geoffrey Rockwell
Dr. Rockwell is Professor of Philosophy and Digital Humanities at the University of Alberta. He was the Associate Director of the AI 4 Society signature area and co-developer of Voyant Tools, an award-winning suite of text analysis and visualization tools.


Dr. Jonathan Schaeffer
Dr. Schaeffer is a Professor of Computing Science at the University of Alberta. He has been researching artificial intelligence for over 40 years and is best known for using games to demonstrate his research results, including checkers, chess, and poker.


Dr. Nidhi Hegde
Dr. Hegde is an Associate Professor of Computing Science at the University of Alberta and a Canada CIFAR AI Chair and Fellow at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute. She spent nearly two decades in industry research labs before joining the university. Her research interests are in privacy and fairness in machine learning, and the ethics of AI more generally.
