Do you know a girl ages 12-17 with lots of ideas, who loves to get hands-on, and has a passion to solve problems? Then TinkHER is a one-of-a-kind week long club for her!
There are lots of online workshops for digital content and for hands-on content, but one combines them all into one!
All you need, for this week-long club, is a device (desktop, laptop, tablet) with an internet connection and the ability to install free, recommended and safe software that we will be using. Participants will join in our small group sessions where they can have fun through learning digital skills like coding and using microcontrollers, as well as learning physical skills where we use different materials and tools. You will gain practice using skills to invent something new.
TinkHER: Virtual Maker Club is a safe and positive virtual space for those that identify as girls. It is supported daily by Jen, our Science Garage Staff Scientist, who has loads of experience facilitating empowering workshops for Girls in STEAM.
Step 1: You register here. Hurray!
Step 2: We email you to arrange a time with you for a curbside pick-up on Saturday, July 4, 2020 where you can pick-up your special kit with all kinds of amazing materials and tools like microcontrollers and hand tools that you’ll need before the workshop.
Step 3: Join Jen online every day for morning check-ins with instructions, pre-recorded tutorial videos, fun skill-building, team support from other girls your age and lots of other content. A schedule will be emailed out the week before TinkHER starts.
Step 4: DESIGN, BUILD and TEST your own amazing inventions using your new skills, tools and materials, all with support from us!
Step 5: Bragging rights! At the end of the week, let’s see what cool skills you developed over the week.
This program is only offered once this summer and spaces are very limited, so be sure to register before the workshop sells out! If spots sell out, you will have the opportunity to sign up for our waitlist and be notified if someone cancels.
