  • No computer? No problem! Through play with hands-on games and activities, students will explore coding concepts without electronic devices. This computational thinking session will help provide the foundation for writing computer programs.

    Kindergarten

Computer Science: Children interpret instructions in various environments.

    • Instructions have one or more steps
    • The order in which instructions are followed can affect the outcome

    Grade 1

Computer Science: Students follow instructions and relate them to outcomes.

    • Instructions are ordered in a way that will produce a desired outcome.
    • Many types of instructions need to be in a specific order.
    • Sequence two or three instruction steps to achieve a desired outcome.

    Grade 2

Computer Science: Students apply creativity when designing instructions to achieve a desired outcome.

    • Debugging is the process of identifying and removing errors in a set of instructions to achieve a desired outcome
    • Test instructions with three to four steps to verify that a desired outcome is achieved
    • Predict/refine instructions to more efficiently achieve a desired outcome
