In-School Robotics

Code it. Test it. Bring it to life.

Bring a flock of Finch Robots into your classroom for a hands-on introduction to coding, computational thinking and creative problem-solving.

Students work together to program real robots, experiment with code and tackle challenges that turn abstract computer science concepts into something they can see, test and explore. From making a robot move to experimenting with sensors, loops and conditional statements, students get to experience what happens when their code comes off the screen and into the real world.

Designed for students in Grades 2–12, the program can be adapted to meet learners at different levels of coding experience.

What Students Will Explore

Students will:

  • Build, test and refine sequences of code.
  • Experiment with loops, conditional statements and sensors.
  • Use computational thinking to solve hands-on challenges.
  • Explore how creativity and design work together in computer science.
  • See their ideas come to life through a real robot.

Program at a Glance

Grades: 2–12
Program Length: 60 minutes
Cost: $250 per class
Class Size: Maximum 35 students
Booking: Minimum 2 classes; maximum 4 classes per day

Most classes will have approximately one robot for every two students. For larger classes, students may work in groups of three.

What Your School Will Need

Please provide a reserved classroom or other suitable space where students can work in small groups and the robotics activities can be delivered.

Curriculum Connections

  • Grade 2 – Computer Science: Creativity and the design process
  • Grade 3 – Computer Science: Creativity and computational thinking
  • Grade 4 – Computer Science: Design processes to meet needs
  • Grade 5 – Computer Science: Designing to achieve a desired outcome or purpose
  • Grade 6 – Computer Science: Abstraction, design and coding
  • Grades 7–12: Coding, computational thinking and applied computer science concepts

Bring Coding to Life

Give your students the chance to move beyond the screen, put their code to the test and discover what they can make a robot do.
