Edmonton is full of nature if you know where to look.
In this hands-on, station-based program, students explore the plants, animals and non-living parts of the environment found right here in our city. They'll investigate natural artifacts, practice their observation skills and discover new ways to look at the living world in their own neighbourhood.
Created with Alberta's new Science Curriculum in mind, Nature in Our Neighbourhoods brings local, hands-on science exploration directly to students in Grades 1–6.
What Students Will Explore
Students will:
- Get hands-on with natural artifacts and specimens.
- Practice observing, comparing and describing what they discover.
- Explore plants, animals and the non-living parts of local environments.
- Use scientific observation skills as they move through interactive activity stations.
- Discover that meaningful nature exploration can happen right in their own neighbourhood.

Grades: 1–6
Program Length: 45 minutes
Cost: $250 per class
Class Size: Maximum 35 students
Booking: Minimum 2 classes; maximum 4 classes per day
What Your School Will Need
Please provide a reserved classroom or other suitable space where the program's activity stations can be set up and students can move between them.
