What is AI? How does it work? And when should we trust it?
Artificial intelligence is already changing how we learn, create and interact with the world. In this hands-on, discussion-led program, students look beyond the screen to explore how AI works, and the responsibilities that come with using it.
Guided by teachings shared by local Cree and Anishinaabe Knowledge Keepers, students will consider AI through the lens of relationship, reciprocity and responsibility. Through activities and conversation, they'll build a better understanding of one of today's most influential technologies while exploring an important question: What does it mean to have an ethical relationship with AI?
What Students Will Explore
Students will:
- Discover some of the basic ideas behind how artificial intelligence works.
- Investigate how AI makes decisions and why its answers aren't always right.
- Explore questions of trust, responsibility and the impacts of technology.
- Consider how reciprocity and relationship can help guide the way we design and use AI.
No previous coding or AI experience is required.
