Science Build It

Using the design process, creative problem-solving skills and a variety of materials, students will find solutions to a series of challenges. Taking inspiration from Indigenous designers who have contributed to a variety of special builds here in Alberta, students will experience how engineering, architecture, and art engage creativity, collaboration, and design skills.

Kindergarten:

• Matter: Children examine properties of objects
• Earth Systems: Children examine and describe surrounding environments

Grade 1:

• Matter: Students analyze properties of objects and investigate how they can be changed
• Scientific Methods: Students engage in and describe the investigation

Grade 2:

• Matter: Students investigate the properties of materials and relate them to a purpose
• Computer Science: Students apply creativity when designing instructions to achieve a desired outcome
