$1 million donated to the Aurora Project by Edmonton Civic Employees Charitable Assistance Fund

We are so thankful to Edmonton Civic Employees Charitable Assistance Fund (ECECAF) for their major $1 million donation to the Aurora Project and its significant impact on our vision of reimagining and redefining what a science centre can be.
The science centre will recognize this generous gift through the Edmonton Civic Employees Charitable Assistance Fund Gallery – home to our very popular early childhood development gallery, CuriousCITY.
Building a strong foundation of learning in Edmonton’s youth
TELUS World of Science - Edmonton and ECECAF understand how critical early childhood education is for building a strong foundation of learning in Edmonton’s youth that can help them grow intellectually, emotionally, and physically. The Edmonton Civic Employees Charitable Assistance Fund Gallery is inspired by the city we call home and gives our children a sense of place. The signature experience is a series of connected treehouses themed as iconic Edmonton buildings and bridges. Children experience our city in a hands-on way, by crawling through sedimentary layers in the River Valley, directing airplane traffic at the YEG airport, exploring vegetation in the Muttart pyramids, and creating lighting displays for the High Level Bridge.
CuriousCITY in the Edmonton Civic Employees Charitable Assistance Fund Gallery feeds our children’s growing curiosity and intelligence as they choose their own adventure in this safe and exploratory environment. ECECAF’s investment in the imagination of children and their commitment to creating a healthier community inspires the limitless potential of our children and the future generations to come.
ECECAF’s impact in the Edmonton community
ECECAF has been impacting the lives of Edmontonians since 1941. Comprised of nine participating unions and associations, employee contributions allow for ECECAF to promote healthy communities. Over the past 25 years, they have contributed over $21.5 million to Edmonton charities! Thank you to ECECAF and to each of the 11,000 members for your support of education, youth and your community.
ECECAF’s generous $1 million contribution brings TELUS World of Science – Edmonton $650,000 away from reaching our $41.5 million fundraising goal. When the Aurora Project is completed in 2022, every gallery in the science centre will have been updated to address emerging trends in science and technology from a uniquely Albertan perspective.
How can you support the Aurora Project?
The science centre needs support to complete the Aurora Project and inspire the next generation of big thinkers, innovators, and curious minds. Any donation great or small will help push us over the finish line and build brighter futures for the children in your community. Donate today!
