The Edmonton Space & Science Foundation (ESSF) Inspiring Educator Award 2026 recognizes exceptional teachers from Northern Alberta who go above and beyond to bring science to life in their classrooms and inspire a passion for discovery in their students.
Key Benefits of Winning:
- A $1,000 monetary award that the educator may use to fund an engaging science activity in their classroom, purchase supplies, or support other educational activities.
- One complimentary field trip to TELUS World of Science – Edmonton or virtual program for their class.*
- Recognition in the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation’s newsletter and at the Annual General Meeting.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Currently lives and works in Northern Alberta (including Edmonton, and communities north of Red Deer)
- Teaches science in elementary, junior high, or high school (K-12)**
- Has a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Can demonstrate their passion for science education
- Aligns with TELUS World of Science – Edmonton’s Strategic Framework and Core Values
*Up to 35 students in the class, in-person field trips will be for schools inside Edmonton & Area and will include bussing. Virtual program options will be for schools outside of Edmonton & Area.
**Excludes preschools and daycares.

- Respond to the five questions using bullet points.
- Upload reference letters as PDFs at the end of the form.
The deadline for submission is April 3, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Successful candidates will be informed in May 2026.
The successful candidates will be encouraged to submit a short summary of how this award impacted their classroom.
